Journal 09/15
**09/15, Sunday**
It’s Sunday night, 8:42 PM.
Weekends can be tough sometimes! How can we make them more fun and energizing for the whole family?
On Saturday morning, we went to a trial gymnastics class at South Coast Gymnastics. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The music was too loud, the studio was poorly managed, and the coach seemed exhausted and disorganized. It was a tough 90 minutes to get through.
Later in the afternoon, Annie played with her classmate Julia. She invited Julia and another friend over to our house, and when her mom came to pick them up, I struggled with my English during our conversation. We talked for 30 minutes, and although it made me anxious and frustrated, it also motivated me to work harder on improving my English and step out of my comfort zone.
On Sunday afternoon, Annie went to TBY for her acting rehearsal. She was cast as Piggy No.1. I could tell she wasn’t thrilled about it, but I didn’t say anything yet. She’s new to the group, young, and just starting out. It makes sense that she didn’t get a big part right away. I want to tell her that it’s important to play this small part well, and in time, people will see her potential for bigger roles.
She’s only 8 years old, so I want her to have positive experiences, but I also know that failure and disappointment are part of growing. It’s hard as a parent to see that balance.
As for weekends, I think I need to plan them in a way that nurtures our family’s energy better.
